Specialized Teacher Training

The English Proficiency requirements present a major hurdle in the pathway to citizenship for our students. All of our volunteer English teachers will learn about the U.S. Visa process and how to prepare students to successfully navigate the testing requirements. Our goal is to get all of our students legally documented and consequently welcomed into all aspects of community life. We believe that newcomers bring tremendous value to our society and it is our mission to build better bridges for our students to cross.


ESOL teachers are encouraged to apply to become volunteers. All of our work is done remotely, including workshops to prepare teachers for the specific requirements involved in immigration testing. Hours are flexible and teachers will have a mixture of group classes as well as one on one student centered tutoring. Teachers will receive valuable training as well as experience in exchange for supporting our mission
